An important element of DFKI's mission is to move innovations as quickly as possible from the lab into the marketplace. JOTNE has worked on SimDM – Simulation Data Management (2009-2012), a Norwegian offset project financed by the Lockheed Martin Corporation. The objective of the SimDM project was the exposure of design and engineering analysis data in a form that can be reused by multiple down-stream functions, including long term archival and retention, in order to streamline processes and improve efficiencies. The solution provides a functioning collaboration server for timely distribution of accurate and complete product data, based on edition 2 of ISO 10303-209 (AP209), “Multidisciplinary Analysis and Design”. In addition, SimDM makes simulation data available to all who have to use it and secures simulation and analysis data for future access, even when the CAD and CAE systems have disappeared from the market.

SINTEF’s annual turnover is approx. NOK 2 billion. SINTEF is represented in this consortium by the Department of Applied Mathematics, which is part of the SINTEF Institute of Information and Communications Technology. The department has long traditions within simulation, geometry, as well as research related to GPUs and modern parallel architectures, and computer graphics. In addition, SINTEF has long experience in the implementation of technology in modular and easy-to-use program libraries. The groups within the department involved in CloudFlow will be Heterogenous Computing and Geometry.

Our company is located in Herbrechtingen, where we erected a new company building in 2011, combining offices and our workshop, which is equipped with up-to-date CNC machines. Stellba employees are specialists with experience in all types and brands of turbines.

Our goal is to find optimized solutions for each and every power station. As all our customers machines are different in respect to construction and operating conditions, such as water supply and head of water, we tailor individual solutions, keeping the tried and true but replacing the necessary parts. In order to achieve this, we strongly use modern simulation techniques like CSM (computational structural mechanics) and CFD (computational fluid mechanics). In this field, we are currently establishing an automated process chain, connecting hydraulic design, simulation and evaluation in a seamless manner.

We are a multi-disciplinary group with a long-standing international reputation in user-centred design and evaluation of virtual, augmented and mixed realities. The research group consists of human factors experts with backgrounds in ergonomics, psychology, engineering and computer-science. The group has conducted fundamental and applied research for over 25 years into physical, cognitive, organizational and systems ergonomics.

With backgrounds in manufacturing and industrial design as well as a strong set of skills in human factors methodologies, we are able to conduct user requirements gathering with end-users (e.g. design and engineering students and SMEs), providing recommendations towards the development of technologies, integration, and evaluate the impact of technologies in the contexts of design, engineering and manufacturing.

ATHENA RIC was founded in 2003 and operates under the auspices of the Ministry of Development (General Secretariat for Research & Technology). It is based in Athens, with institutes located also in Patras and Xanthi. It is the sole research center in Greece devoted to Computer Science and Informatics.
The mission of the Institute for the Management of Information Systems (IMIS) is to conduct research, develop innovative applications and products, and provide services in the areas of Distributed Information Systems, Information integration, Business and Database intelligence systems, Management of geographical information, and Scientific databases. It has managed or is managing about 30 European and 15 national research projects, and about 30 industrial projects.

AVL

Organisation profile.

AVL is the world's largest independent company for development, simulation and testing technology of powertrains (hybrid, combustion engines, transmission, electric drive, batteries and software) for passenger cars, trucks and large engines. AVL develops all kinds of powertrain systems as well as all the instruments, systems and software required for powertrain and vehicle testing. BiFi

Organisation profile.

The Institute for Biocomputing and Physics of Complex Systems (BIFI) of the University of Zaragoza (UNIZAR) has experience in the HPC area both as infrastructure provider and participating in international projects at several levels including scientific applications development and porting, user support and resource provision
BIFI´s aim is to develop a competitive research in computation applied to physics of complex systems and biological systems. In addition to the research in basic science, the promotion of technology transfer between university and industry is an essential goal for BIFI.

BioCurve

Organisation profile.

Biocurve, S.L. is a Spanish SME dedicated to the manufacture of condensing biomass boilers. Recently (2013) established by a highly skilled technical team, with diverse backgrounds and engineering degrees, strong environmental commitment and a solid industrial support from several generations of metalworkers.
A major success from their R+D department has been the adaptation of curved pipes into the biofuel boilers world. Their heat exchanger – patented – consists of a cluster of curved pipes. Their number and individual diameter, length, step and thickness are carefully designed to withdraw, within the least room, the most energy from the biomass burning process. The result is a new concept of biomass boiler, unparalleled, capable of condensing within the boiler body without external equipment.

BOGE

Organisation profile.

BOGE designs and manufactures a complete range of lubricated and oil free screw and piston compressors for industrial compressed air from 1 to 480 HP alongside a complimentary range of quality ancillary compressed air products. Most of them are air-cooled with help of a fan and have a sound reducing enclosure.
BOGE is one of the oldest German compressor manufacturer's and is still a family run business, now in its fourth generation BOGE employs app. 550 employees in over 80 countries world-wide, some 90% of them in the EC.

CSUC has a wide experience in managing complex HPC systems, storage resources and networks. CSUC’s infrastructure includes large HPC systems with more than 2000 cores, high availability cloudready clusters based on blade technology and virtualization for hosting web applications, database servers like Oracle, PostgreSQL and MySql, and a centralized storage system providing multiple protocols (NFS, Fiber Channel and iSCSI).
